A’wa Matcha — 002

Sourced from Yuhang District, Hangzhou—an area celebrated in China as a cradle of matcha revival and one of the nation’s premier production regions. Situated in a humid subtropical climate with balanced rainfall, mild sunlight, and abundant humidity, Yuhang’s terroir closely resembles that of renowned Japanese matcha regions. These conditions make it especially well-suited for cultivating shade-grown tea rich in chlorophyll and umami compounds—setting it apart from other Chinese regions.

Our first release is defined by its vivid jade-green colour and a flavour that balances gentle sweetness with a clean, refreshing finish. Smooth and rounded, it works beautifully in both traditional whisked preparations and modern lattes.

Preparation recommendations:

Matcha Latte — Whisk 2g matcha with 20 ml water at 80 °C until smooth, then add 150–200ml milk (oat, dairy, or your choice).

Our take on Usucha: Thin tea — 3 g matcha : 100 ml water at 80 °C

This slightly more generous pour brings out a vibrant, invigorating cup: the bright, jade-green colour is as uplifting as the aroma, while the flavour is smooth, refreshing, and subtly nutty. It’s a balanced, lively hot drink that highlights the natural sweetness and umami of our Yuhang-grown leaves, perfect for a mindful morning or a gentle afternoon lift.
